Hi,

I am just after some clarification on resource tracking for the FCNRP.

It is $2 per capita annually as per https://firesmartbc.ca/firesmart-canada-neighbourhood-recognition-program-fcnrp/

I think I recall that if we couldn't get a confirmed number of occupants for the neighborhood we should estimate at 2 persons per dwelling.

for example a neighborhood of 30 homes requires an input of $120 of volunteer hours @$29/hr and/or In-Kind resource value from outside providers.

Any extra clarification on this subject would be great.

Thanks

Isaac

Hi Isaac

The BC household average is 2.4. Kimberly is likely a bit less due to the number of seasonal properties so 2 or 2.2 would be reasonable.

It's easy to reach the required hours as there are so many tasks that qualify for the $29/hr volunteer rate for example your admin time. Everything including cleaning gutters, handing out booklets, planning an event, taking branches to the dump, sending out notices, talking with neighbours about risks around their properties, filling out recognition forms/portal etc.

Plus the in-kind costs of printer ink and paper, travel expense at $.56/km (BC rate), arborist fees, tool rentals, chainsaw gas/oil and chain sharpening, hand tools like loppers and pruning hand saws, tarps & toboggins for dragging debris, contractors that clean gutters and snacks/refreshments for the chipping crew.

If you would like to discuss this or any other FireSmart questions I can be reached at columerefiresmart@gmail.com, I'm located 10 minutes south of Fairmont Hot Springs.
