At FireSmart BC, our mission is ambitious and requires collaboration.
Partnering with like-minded organizations is essential to reducing wildfire risk and safeguarding communities. The insurance industry plays a crucial role in this effort, and one key partner is BCAA.
Since 2023, FireSmart BC and BCAA have been working together to enhance wildfire preparedness across British Columbia. Our joint efforts focus on increasing access to resources and education, particularly for those living in remote, rural, and high-risk areas.
The BCAA FireSmart BC Initiative focuses on three core areas: Community Outreach, Resource Development, and Community Grants.
Community Outreach
Provides guidance and support to at-risk and remote communities to help them establish and sustain FireSmart BC programs.
Resource Development
Develop and distribute tailored FireSmart educational resources.
Community Grant
Provide grants to launch or enhance existing FireSmart initiatives, including funding for mitigation actions outlined in the Wildfire Mitigation Assessment.

BCAA customers are eligible for discounts when they complete a FREE Wildfire Mitigation Assessment and/or attain FireSmart certification. Visit BCAA to learn more. Completing a free Wildfire Mitigation Assessment and implementing the recommendations can earn homeowners discounts on BCAA Home Insurance. Other insurance companies may also offer savings for those who complete a Wildfire Mitigation Assessment and/or attain FireSmart certification. Check with your insurance provider today.
