Looking for an alternative to cedar or juniper hedges? Straight Talk Privet is an interesting fire-resistant shrub grown for it’s naturally tall and narrow habit. It responds well to pruning, but you may choose to go with a more natural look and enjoy the small fragrant flowers that appear in late spring, followed by black berries that attract birds. The glossy dark green leaves may be semi-evergreen or deciduous, depending on your climate. (Semi-evergreen means it loses its foliage for a very short period of time.) This shrub is recommended for use in the extended zone.
- Grows up to 3.5 m tall with a spread of about 0.6 m
- Drought tolerant once established, but ideal soil is moist and well-drained
- Prefers full sun to partial shade
- Deer resistant
