This pretty perennial succulent is an excellent fire-resistant plant. As a late-season bloomer, it brings colour when other plants are fading. The striking clusters of pink flowers sit on top of upright stems, offering nectar that attracts birds, bees, and butterflies. While pollinators love it, deer and rabbits generally dislike the plant’s rubbery foliage. Thanks to the thick water-storing leaves and stems, this succulent is harder to ignite, making it well-suited to the intermediate zone.
