Stonecrop

(Sedum spurium)

The succulent foliage of this groundcover makes it an excellent fire-resistant choice. It looks best when planted in groups, whether in rock gardens, or as an edging or border plant. There are a number of cultivars with leaves ranging from green to red to bronze and flowers in various shades of pink. (Cultivars are not found naturally but are bred for their characteristics.) Sedum spurium is a slower spreading species than other stonecrops. It is also deer and rabbit resistant.
