Columbine plants are a fine choice for a fire-resistant garden. They are bushy and clump-forming with an airy appearance. Their tall stems produce nodding, bell-shaped flowers, from late spring through mid-summer in shades of blue, purple, white, pink, and red. While Columbine plants are short-lived, they self-seed and spread, making them useful for filling in areas cleared of fire hazard plants. Easy to grow and a suitable choice for the intermediate zone.
