This broadleaf evergreen is a great fire-resistant ground cover that also has low water requirements. It has medicinal properties important to First Nations peoples.
- Grows 10 to 20 cm in height
- Beautiful pink flowers become brilliant edible red berries
- Prefers well-drained soils and is naturally found in areas prone to drought for at least part of the growing season.
- Leaves can be boiled to make a tea
- Stems and leaves are used in a multi-purpose medicinal preparation*
